Tips for Cleaning Your Office

To clean office chair fabric, you will need a vacuum, a lint roller, a steam cleaner, and a mild detergent. You will also need a clean, dry cloth and a soft brush.

Materials

To start, you will need to gather your supplies. For this project you will need a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment, a lint roller, fabric cleaner, and a clean cloth. Before you start cleaning, Vacuum the seat and back of the chair to remove any loose dirt and dust.

To clean the fabric on your office chair, start by vacuuming the fabric with a brush attachment to remove any loose dirt and debris. Next, use a lint roller to remove any pet hair or lint. If there are any stubborn stains, pretreat the area with a stain remover. Finally, use a fabric cleaner to clean the fabric.

Start With The Vacuum

Before you start anything, it’s always a good idea to vacuum. This will remove any crumbs or dust that might get in the way as you clean. Use the upholstery attachment on your vacuum to avoid damaging the fabric. If your chair is really dirty, you may need to go over it a few times.

Use the Lint Roller

To use the lint roller, simply remove the adhesive paper and roll it over the surface of your chair. The roller will pick up all of the dirt, dust, and hair that has accumulated on your chair. You may need to use a few sheets of paper to completely remove all of the debris from your chair.

Use The Upholstery Brush

Attach the upholstery brush to your vacuum. Be sure to use the upholstery brush attachment and not the rotating brush attachment, as the rotating brush can damage the fabric on your office chair. If your chair is extremely dirty, you may want to use a pre-treatment or pretreatment solution before vacuuming. You can purchase these solutions at most grocery stores. Just be sure to follow the instructions on the package.

Use The Fabric Cleaner

To clean your chair’s fabric, start by vacuuming it with the upholstery attachment to remove any surface dirt and debris. If your chair is really dirty, you may need to shampoo it with a cool water and upholstery cleaner solution. To do this, mix 1/4 cup of upholstery cleaner in a cool water bucket. Dip your sponge in the mixture and wring it out until it’s only slightly damp. Gently scrub the fabric in small circular motions until the dirt is lifted. Finally, blot the area with a clean towel to remove any excess moisture.
